Power Factor Power Factor is a measure the Active Power portion of the VA flowing. At low loads, induction motors operate at low power factors - the current is out of phase with the voltage - and thus current remains substantial even though the actual power generated is low. As motor load approaches rated load for the motor, power factor approaches unity and current rises towards full rated current.
